"You will become one with the Borg."

When were we founded?

After many years of assimilation, our group became collective on Stardate 42761.3. Our coat of arms symbolizes our superiority on campus. The stylized claw interlaced with circuitry defines who we are; an amalgam of organic with synthetic.

We are a relentless and focused race whose goal is to improve the quality of life throughout the galaxy. Rho Iota Phi is the only student organization at the Borg Institute of Technology. We assimilate other organizations on campus so that they may achieve perfection.

Our greek letters (when translated) represent the first letter of each word in our motto, Resistance Is Futile. Granted, Phi is near the end of the Greek Alphabet, but hey...we had to find something that sounded like an "F".

Rush Week

During Rush Week, you will be assigned a Big Brother who will assist you in your assimilation. At the end of rush week, you will be outfitted with specialized hardware so that specific tasks can be performed. You will then be connected to The Hive via a sophisticated subspace communications network. Finally, you will be given your official Borg designation at which time you will be fully initiated into The Collective.

Hazing Policy

Many inferior species in the past have considered our assimilation process to be a form of hazing. We believe it to be the goal of every inferior organization on campus to become one with Rho Iota Phi. Inconvenience is irrelevant. Pain is irrelevant. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service ours. Complaining is futile.

Freedom is irrelevant. Self-determination is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Our Fraternity Song

Below are the lyrics to our fraternity's song. This also happens to be the Alma Mater for the Borg Institute of Technology. The song has no tune, therefore singing it is futile. Music is irrelevant. Tempo is irrelevant.

"Resistorum Est Futilitatis"

We are the Borg.
Lower your shields, and surrender your ship.
We will add your biological and technological
distinctiveness to our own.
Your culture will adapt to service ours.
Resistance is futile.

Freedom is irrelevant;
Self-determination is irrelevant;
You must comply.

Strength is irrelevant.
Death is irrelevant.
Your defensive capabilities
are unable to withstand us.

Resistance is futile.
Your life, as it has been, is over.
From this time forward, you will service us.

Alpha Quadrant Woodser

Every semester we have a Woodser to commemorate the assimilation of the first non-Borg civilization. This semester we met in the Alpha quadrant outside the Typhon sector. We planned to take the group to Earth, but our plans changed at the last minute. Past woodsers were held at historical locations such as Wolf 359 and Ohniaka III.

As a fund-raising event, we occasionally hold a "Pot Luck Assimilation Drive". Basically, members of The BIT Alumni Association will donate cybernetic implants for needy Borg in the Delta quadrant. Such donations are essential for maintaining a strong presence here at home.

"Underneath those high-tech implants they're just monkey-boys with bad fashion sense who need to get a little more fresh air and sunshine."
